The aim of the Presidential Challenge webinar – scheduled for 8 April, 2015 at 11:00am PT (2:00pm ET) – is to define and introduce technologies that constitute the next generation of advanced outdoor lighting.
In other words, the event is specifically designed “to help public sector organisations learn more about what it takes to get involved in the Presidential Challenge for Outdoor Lighting program.”
Announced by the White House at the beginning of the year, the Presidential Challenge for Advanced Outdoor Lighting program has set a goal of upgrading 1.5 million streetlights nationwide to high-efficiency LEDs.
The main topics that will be covered at the event include:
– Introduction to the Better Buildings Outdoor Lighting Accelerator program;
– High-efficiency lighting, controls strategies and how to manage the transition from old to new lighting technologies – a presentation by Acuity Brands;
– The elements of a Smart City – a presentation by Cisco;
– Advanced lighting as the starting point for Smart Cities – a presentation by Sensity.
Heather Zichal, Former Deputy Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change, Yaser Abdelsamed, VP of Engineering, Outdoor LED Systems, Acuity Brands, Inc., Munish Khetrapal, Managing Director, Solutions and Business Transformation, Cisco Systems, and Hugh Martin, Chairman and CEO, Sensity Systems, will be speaking at the webinar.
