LIGHTFAIR International 2015, the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference will kick-off this Sunday at New York’s Javits Centre (Pre-Conference LIGHTFAIR Institute®: 3–4 May; Trade Show & Conference: 5–7 May).
Last year LFI celebrated its 25th birthday as the gathering place for lighting and design professionals from all over the world.
Over 500 exhibitors will take part in this year’s event, including more than 90 first-time exhibitors.
This year’s first-time included categories are alternative energy including solar power, software, exterior and roadway, digital signage, healthcare and hospitality.
Shuji Nakamura, PhD, 2014 Nobel Prize Winner in Physics; inventor Chuck Hoberman, president and founder of Hoberman Associates; iconic lighting designer Howard Brandston, founding partner of the Brandston Partnership; and Mark Rea, PhD, director of the Lighting Research Centre are some of the keynote and impact speakers.
LIGHTFAIR International is a Gold Sponsor of the International Year of Light, so the “Reception & Celebration of the International Year of Light (IYL)” at LFI will take place on 5 May 2015.
The new LFI Controls & Connectivity Forum will take place on Wednesday, 6 May 2015, and will be dedicated to current and near-future research with case studies that showcase best practices for the present and future.
7 May is reserved for exploring the challenges for women in lighting and discussing options for creating a culture of opportunity for all genders within our industry. That’s when the “Women in Lighting: An Open Dialogue” is scheduled to take place.
