An interesting interactive exhibition of light and sound will be on display at the RAB gallery in the heart of New York’s Chelsea arts district at 535 W 24th Street from 18 May.
Titled Cumulus: an Interactive Exhibition of Light and Sound, the exhibition was inspired by the complex geometries and “deliberate yet erratic” behaviour of lighting.
According to the news release, a lightweight structure comprised of acrylic tubes, 3D printed nylon joints and LED strips will take on the physical embodiment of an abstracted cloud digitally programmed to respond to environmental sound and interact with viewers.
The opening reception will be held on 18 May from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm during which the designer, Michael Szivos of design studio SOFTlab, and the curator, Karen Bookatz, will be present to discuss the installation with guests.
The exhibition is presented in conjunction with NYCxDESIGN, a citywide celebration of design.
